ABOUT ME

future computer scientist.gif

Hi!

My name is Kiera.

I was born and raised in the vibrant city of London. I am incredibly lucky to live near the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum. Growing up, I spent countless afternoons exploring their fascinating displays, attending educational workshops, and feeding my curiosity about the wonders of the universe. The frequent visits ignited a spark within me.

However, it wasn’t long before I had my first set back. When I was seven years old, I took a Saturday engineering class that I was really excited about. I was thrilled to learn how to build amazing things and solve problems using my creativity. But something happened that upset me. I was the only girl in the class, and some of the boys didn't want to work with me. They thought engineering was only for boys, and they didn't think I could do it. It made me feel frustrated and left out, but I didn't let that stop me. I showed them that girls can be great engineers too! I worked hard, asked for help when I needed it, and never gave up.

Eventually, I proved to everyone, including myself, that I could do anything I set my mind to, regardless of my gender. This experience taught me that it’s important to remember that we should never let other people's opinions hold us back from pursuing our dreams.

I am in high school now and plan to pursue a future in STEM.  When I think about my future, one thing is certain: I want to study computer science. The idea of using technology to solve problems and create innovative solutions really excites me.

One of the things I find most exciting about computer science is its endless possibilities. From building websites that connect people from all over the world to creating apps that make our lives easier, there's no limit to what we can achieve with technology. But what truly fascinates me is the way computer science intersects with other fields. Whether it's using artificial intelligence to solve medical problems or developing algorithms to protect the environment, the impact of computer science reaches far and wide.

Being passionate about STEM isn’t all that defines me. I also have a soft spot for animals, especially my four amazing dogs who bring so much joy to my life. And when I'm not geeking out over science or spending time with my furry friends, you can find me lost in the world of music. There's something truly magical about the way music can touch our souls and bring people together.

So that's a little glimpse into who I am—a science-loving, animal-loving, music enthusiast with big dreams for the future!
